Samsung saw the most sales, with 80.8 million units sold, gaining 22% of the market share this quarter. Huawei takes up the second spot, with 51.8 million units (taking up 14.1% of the market share) sold this quarter. Another Chinese company in Xiaomi took up the third spot, besting Apple which sits in fourth position.

Xiaomi sold 44.4 million units this quarter, an increase from last year’s Q3 figures of 32.9 million units. Apple takes 11.1% of the market share, selling half as many smartphones as Samsung did in the third quarter. OPPO makes up the top five with over 29.8 million units sold in Q3 2020 pulling in a market share of 8.2%. Samsung’s sales in Q3 were boosted by the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Galaxy Z Flip 5G. Also, the sale of the A series in certain regions helped Samsung improve its sales. Gartner says that global sales to end-users summed up to about 366 million units in the third quarter of 2020, with overall global sales totaling 401 million units.   References
