Smile’s Web portal is not exactly a mobile-friendly experience. It is a platform designed strictly for desktop use. Perhaps you could use it fairly conveniently on a tablet as well. But on a smartphone, you have to scroll horizontally and zoom in to get anything done. Which is not how we like to work on a mobile phone. The good news is that there is a now an app available for you to manage your Smile account and subscription. All you need are the very same Smile 4G login details you already have.
How can you check your data balance on the Web portal with your Smile 4G login details?
If you are already a Smile subscriber, you definitely already know how to check your data balance via the Web portal:
If you are in Nigeria, click here to login to MySmile using your username (that you selected when you registered with Smile) and password. If you are in Tanzania, click here to login to MySmile using your username (that you selected when you registered with Smile) and password. If you are based in Uganda, click here to login to MySmile using your username (that you selected when you registered with Smile) and password.
Once logged in, you are able to view your data balance in your dashboard. You can also recharge/buy Smile airtime and Smile data. In addition, you can change your password, manage the speed of your connection, enable and disable automatic updates, block videos, block torrenting, block cloud storage, as well as transfer airtime to another Smile account.
The Smile web portal is quite extensive. But as mentioned earlier, the web portal is cumbersome to use on a mobile device. This is where the new MySmile mobile app comes in handy.
How can you check your data balance and manage your account on the MySmile mobile app with your Smile 4G login details?
At the time of publishing this article, the MySmile mobile app is in early acess state. This means that it is not a finished job yet and can sometimes be unstable. If you choose to proceed to use it at this point, you do so at your own risk. You can choose to wait till it is officially launched. If you want to take the plunge now, download it from Google Play Store by clicking HERE. Once downloaded, all you need to use it are the same Smile 4G login details that you have been using to access the Smile web portal. Just enter your Smile username and password to login and manage your account. The new MySmile app lets you do all that the Web portal does, plus more. In other words, you can view your airtime, voice, and data balance, recharge data, voice, and airtime, load airtime using a voucher PIN your purchased or received from someone, share airtime and data, as well as reset your password. There are some features that exist on the Web portal that are not available in the mobile app, however. These are those features that let you manage the speed of your connection, enable and disable automatic updates, block videos, block torrenting, as well as block cloud storage. I can only hope that these will be added before the app goes official. So far, the MySmile mobile app has performed well for me without any serious issues. It has a user friendly user interface and seems to be a well thought out job. It is super convenient to have, and you just might never need to login via the Web portal ever again. Being able to use your Smile 4G login to access your account management via a mobile app is a sound move by Smile Communications. If you choose to give the app a spin, let me know how it goes by sharing your experience in the comments section below. Do indicate whether you are using the app from Tanzania, Nigeria, or Uganda. Thanks.
